I loved reading your thoughts. My 15 year old and her best friend sewed their own very original costumes, thought up makeup to further their theme, and had a real blast trick or treating and having so many door openers say, "Wait a minute, you look so cute, let me get my camera!" They were so excited to be so well received until one older home owner opened the door looked at them having all this fun, all decked out with all this creativity and then told them they were too old to trick or treat anymore. Sigh . . . I was kind of surprise they did decide to go out this year and put so much effort and weeks of planning into it myself as the past coupld years my teen has handed out candy at our house rather than do the rounds. I was glad they enjoyed themselves and made their own fun. They sat in the living room counting and trading candy afterwards, and just as you described, went to sleep with the last remnants of make-up still around the eyes.
