Are they pineapples?

That's what my kids wanted to know. They are almost done blooming now, and the forsythia is starting to fade. It's fritillaria imperialis, known to some as crown imperial. I don't think of it that way - to me a crown imperial is a big old Chrysler car from the '70's!Posted by Picasa

Can't believe this! I JUST saw this flower for the first time in my life in, of all places, ready?...Monet's garden at Giverny!!!
