Suddenly Fall!

I was blown away when I saw that the squashes are in at Paley's, our local farm market! Unfortunately it was closed by the time I got there - I took too long trying to get a picture of the incredible rainbow that was arching over the hills after a short but intense storm. So I couldn't buy one and make my famous squash and sweet potato soup with the ancho chili swirl!

Clicking on the photo will lead you to my new Flickr stream where tons more brand-new photos of Sharon reside!

Well I just took one look and thought "SOUP" - lol!
I've never been near anythinglike these - do you blend the soup?
Really an amazing photo!

Each one is a little different, and are different colors and textures. They are earthy and rich - they test best oven-roasted iwth a little butter or olive oil, and a touch of brown sugar. Then they are soft and creamy - delicious as is or in recipes. (Classic squash or pumpkin soup has sauteed onions and garlic, chicken or vegetable stock, and squash, blended smooth. There are many variations, of course! (one could make it with cheese, beer, cream, various herbs, or my special recipe mentioned in the post, among others!)

I meant taste, not test! I have to start proofreading myself better!

A wonderful shot. Your photo screams FALL, and I'm just not ready to go there yet. Sigh. . .school's in, it rained today for the first time, it's darker sooner. . .and I'm just not ready to head into the dark days yet. Well, reading about your soup brightens things up a bit. Soup is slow, and one can savor it, unlike the end of summer.

Very nice shot, framed very well!

Even if you didn’t get your squash, you got a nice shot on your diversion!

Fall? Didn’t summer just start?
