Theme Day...what will disappear soon
What does our monthly theme have to do with Halloween? Well, that pile of candy won't last long, not in our house. And neither will childhood. We only have a few years to dress up like all these little fairies, superheroes, vampires, witches and goblins who showed up at my house tonight, a few years to count the days, hours, minutes til it's time to go out trick or treating. It isn't long before we're too old to count each box of milk duds and bag of m&m's, trade the ones you don't like with your sister, bargain with your parents for how many treats you can eat before bedtime, taste a few, put them back (that Wonka donut didn't taste as good as it looks), try a jolly rancher because it takes ten minutes to eat, delaying bedtime that much more. The time soon disappears that we can run naked around the house because the costume got hot and itchy, that we can fall into bed with the makeup still on and the chocolate staining our cheeks.
56 Daily Photo sites are participating in the 1st November theme. Please use the links to below to visit them. The ones I've seen so far have been fantastic - it's a wonderful trip around the world!
Due to time zone differences and other factors, the theme photo may not be displayed until later if you are viewing early in the day.

Oh my, next year you wont need make-up, all the teeth will be falling out by themselves!
Yum!
je pensais la meme chose que John ;o))
beau montage, et les maquillages sont superbes.
I thought the same thing that John ;O)) beautiful assembly, and the make-up are superb.
Nice one!
Perfect theme and great photos.
The first shot I've seen of the actually trick-or-treaters! I love it and hope that it was fun!
Great photo collage - I like the one from the other day too. Hope the stomachaches from all the candy disappear soon too!
Great photos, this composition and the previous. I think the most fun and beautiful Halloween photos posted so far.
Best wishes
Good montage! But more than that, the portrait in the middle is really great...
as always, very nice story to follow great photos.
Great takeon the them, and some wonderful shots in the montage.
Wonderful wonderful post. I think it's true that i haven't finished growing up yet then, 'cos I am still (now with some embarrassment) doing some of the stuff you describe as belonging to childhood. Only last night, I ran around the vast expanses of Château Bife (my home)naked as a one-wk-old, chomping on handfuls of fine Belgian chocolates while searching for my pension paybook...It's not about returning to where we started, it's always been the same, LOL!
PS, no retirement pension yet! And now I'm going to disappear again...WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!
Beautiful photography, as usual!
this is lovely, makes us feel sorry we don't do halloween in Australia!
Althought I never understood the reason of this I think it gives a lot of fun to people from USA and Europe. In my country we celebrate the day of Peruvin Music, but Halloween is in competition with this of foreign holiday.
Good colagge of Halloween.
Thanx
wow. nice! nice!
Just a super post Jenny! I loved reading your thoughts. My 15 year old and her best friend sewed their own very original costumes, thought up makeup to further their theme, and had a real blast trick or treating and having so many door openers say, "Wait a minute, you look so cute, let me get my camera!" They were so excited to be so well received until one older home owner opened the door looked at them having all this fun, all decked out with all this creativity and then told them they were too old to trick or treat anymore. Sigh . . . I was kind of surprise they did decide to go out this year and put so much effort and weeks of planning into it myself as the past coupld years my teen has handed out candy at our house rather than do the rounds. I was glad they enjoyed themselves and made their own fun. They sat in the living room counting and trading candy afterwards, and just as you described, went to sleep with the last remnants of make-up still around the eyes. All too soon she will be doing this with her own kids. . . sigh
