In the Shadow of the Oak Tree
vI went back to Twin Oaks Field this morning, a little before 8am, to see if the light made for a very different shot than this post from a few days ago. It did, of course, and I put a shot here. But I liked this shot better, standing under the tree, in its shade, looking out over the valley below.
Oh, and I declare Passante the winner of yesterday's contest (which I cut a little short as I posted earlier than usual.) - it's mean but it's funny. I hope those poor ladies, who I'm sure are perfectly nice, never see this blog!

This is one of your best photos yet. Really lovely and how I would love to be sitting under that tree with some cheese and wine.
Wow, this is only about the third time I've won anything in my life, and I am not sure I should be proud of winning because I can be nastier than anyone else, but what the hey, I'll take whatever glory I can get!
Jenny, your photograph reminds me of the English countryside, and England is my home. But even without that purely personal response, it is a very lovely image. For me achingly lovely.
Michael, thank you! If you ever come this way, bring some cheese from France and I'll bring wine from our local winery!
Passante - thank you too!!
Beautiful landscape shot!
Very beautiful shot!
This looks great. I want to just rest there in that meadow. Let me know when you all are having the wine and cheese. I am in.
Wine and cheese? I was thinking a good book and a soda. Either way, I wish I was there. Great shot!
Very beautiful photo (as the previous) Jenny. I'm glad I step by.
Carlos
great shot jenny. i love the shadow on the grass...
That's it, that's the place I want to be right now! The heat & lack of shade are driving more crazy with each day. Can't beat it. jenny, Ct isn't quite New England,is it? But I have to tell you, when I first looked at this shot, all I could think of was what's left of the rural south of England. That green, the gentle slopes....and the oak, of course. So relaxing.
A necessary PS - I somehow missed Passante's comment on England. Passante, we are possibly aching for different reasons! I'm from London too, but that stopped a long time ago. Now starring in Apocalype Now, the Portuguese summer!
NM: yes, Connecticut is New England, along with Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Islandand Massachusetts.
Very strong view. Like it... it's a bucolic view of a field, some times we need this in our days, with all the stress we face in everyday life. Very good!
Beautiful landscape. It reminds me too to the Avesnois ! As green as here.
Lovely. Remind me Perigord
