Snow Artists

snow artists, originally uploaded by jahansell.

What's a big snowfall without a snowman? This one had a crown of leaves, a marker for a nose, a stick mouth and the eyes ...can't remember - buttons, maybe! The two artists, both seven years old, also made a couch and chair which they lounged in for quite a while.

Parallel Lines

The snow is back - not quite as much as we had last week but still a few inches, so this photo doesn't feel like a cheat! (The "City Daily Photo" ethos dictates that you take a photo and post it the very same day, or at most, the next day, not take a bunch and stockpile them as I have taken to doing. Maybe some day I'll get back to doing that, but if I ever fulfil my ambition of photographing the people of Sharon in planned portrait sessions, I'll probably do it in bunches.)

Anyway it's lovely here today - once again everything is coated with white.

Winter, briefly

berries, originally uploaded by jahansell.

We had a big snow last week and I took some lovely photos of Sharon in winter. Arriving home today from Christmas in New Jersey and Manhattan, I see that the rain has melted nearly everything, and there's nothing in the forecast for the coming week. So I'll post my snowy photos, and let them hod us until the new year.

Artists holiday market

artists holiday market, originally uploaded by jahansell.

For the last few weeks, a group of artists have displayed their wares in what was once Clothes and Collectibles in the shopping center. Milk-bottle sculptures by Tim Prentis, woven and knot hats, lotions and potions, all for sale and giving a taste of what once was and could be again.

if you're on Facebook, come join our group, " The Future of Sharon, CT" and jump into the conversation for how to inject some new vitality into our town!
